“Second year racer returns to Canadian-based formula car team to campaign an extended F1600 program in Ontario and Quebec.”

Brantford, Ontario – Britain West Motorsports, Canada’s leading Formula Ford competition group, is thrilled to announce the re-signing of open wheel racer Chase Pelletier of Brampton, Ontario. The 17-year-old athlete competed in the Quebec Formula Tour with Britain West in 2013 along with taking in several Pirelli World Challenge events. Looking to the open wheel development program in Ontario and Quebec, Pelletier is primed for a break out campaign in the resurgent Formula 1600 ranks. Hot on the heels of announcing their new partnership with Mygale North America, Britain West is excited that Pelletier is the first driver to be confirmed for the Mygale Formula 1600 Honda powered package for the upcoming season.

“I’m excited going into the 2014 season, racing with Britain West Motorsports in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship and the new F1600 Super Series,” comments Pelletier. “With a successful first year in Formula 1600 under my belt, I’m looking forward to competing against the best in Canada and some of the American talent the Super Series is sure to attract. The organizers have really raised the bar for the level of open wheel competition in Canada.”

Along with showing leadership on the track, Chase also leads off track as an example of living successfully with Type 1 diabetes. Working closely with sponsors and leading support programs, Pelletier, also a black belt in karate, doesn’t let the challenges of diabetes slow him down. With the support of companies like Animas Canada, Camillus and Performance Physiotherapy & Wellness, Chase is able to pursue his passion and promote a positive message helping others living with diabetes.

“This year I have my sights set on podiums and championships. With the experience of Britain West Motorsports, the reliability of Honda power and the technology of the Mygale chassis, I expect to be in a great position to accomplish that,” smiles Pelletier.

With the launch of the Canadian F1600 Super Series, a joint effort between the Toyo Tires Championship and the Quebec Formula Tour, F1600 racing in Canada is growing quickly. With several young guys joining a host of seasoned experts, open wheel racing in Canada is going to be very competitive in 2014. Pelletier is looking to add his name the list of title contenders at each stop on the tour.

“We are really happy that Chase has chosen Britain West to help him develop his racing program,” states Britain West team principal David Clubine. “We had had a number of young drivers develop their careers and win championships with us over the years. Besides a great talent, Chase is also an inspiration. We are expecting some big things this year.”

Exciting developments in Canadian open wheel racing include the Canadian F1600 Super Series along with the addition of a new F2000 program that will run select races in Ontario. This gives young drivers moving into cars from karts and more seasoned pilots looking to expand their racing program a lot of options to find the racing that fits them best.

Britain West Motorsports, one of Canada’s leading Formula Ford competition group, is pleased to announce the addition of the Mygale chassis to their expanded racing program.

Working with Bryan Herta Autosports of Indianapolis, Ind., owners of Mygale North America program, Britain West will be the official supplier of the Mygale program to teams and drivers across the country. With a winning record and leading designs, look for Mygale cars to top the podium through 2014.

“The addition of the Mygale chassis gives us another option for our customers and for racers across Canada,” stated David Clubine, owner of Britain West Motorsports. “We will still be supporting the Van Diemen chassis, but different racers are looking for different options, and the Mygale platform offers that. Our stable of key suppliers and manufacturers continues to grow as we support team drivers and privateers in a variety of racing series.”

Made in France and imported to North America, the Mygale chassis meets all specifications and requirements for racing in the Ontario-based Toyo Tires F1600 Championship, Quebec-based Formula Tour 1600, and newly formed Formula 1600 Super Series. Founded in 1989, Mygale quickly found success at the top of the podium in 1995. Located in a state-of-the-art facility located at Circuit Nevers Magny Cours in France, the Mygale Formula F program completed an incredible 1-2-3 finish in the 2005 Formula Ford Festival.

“Mygale North America is thrilled to have Britain West as our Canadian agent,” added Steve Newey of Bryan Herta Autosports. “We realize that the competition is very tough in all the Canadian series, and we look forward to supporting all the Mygale drivers as they race for the championship.”

In their first season of racing in North America, the Mygale chassis was able to take wins and podiums in the US-based F1600 Formula F Championship Series. This new growth in to Canada will see those winning performances continue deep into the Canadian junior open-wheel scene.

“I am absolutely delighted that the Mygale chassis has a permanent home here in Canada and that Britain West is coming back to the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship on a full-time basis,” commented Jason Sharp, promoter for the Ontario series and co-promoter of the Canadian Super Series. “David Clubine and his group are a race-winning organization, and I know the collaboration between them, the Mygale factory, and Bryan Herta Autosport are going to be championship contenders right from the start of the season.”

Echoing those same great sentiments is Marcel Lafontaine, promoter of the Quebec Formula Tour and co-promoter of the Canadian Super Series.

“Adding the Mygale program is not only fantastic for Britain West, but it is also fantastic for Canadian formula car racers. There are a number of strong chassis already successful in our series and this gives racers another great option. The diversity of chassis, teams and drivers is what makes this format racing so exciting and so popular.”
