Exclusive Autosport & Jayson Clunie run Formulatour & super series

Exclusive Autosport signs Jayson Clunie to run Canadian F1600 championships.

April 28, 2014:   Exclusive Autosport (the North American Spectrum factory team) is proud to announce they have signed Jayson Clunie, (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada) to their F1600 program. Clunie, an accomplished driver, is scheduled to run the Quebec based Toyo Tires Formula Tour 1600 Championship, the Canadian Formula 1600 Super Series, select Ontario based Toyo Tires F1600 Championship events and as well as select SCCA Pro Racing and amateur events in the US.

Clunie has been under the guidance of Michael Duncalfe (President and CEO of Exclusive Management Inc. and Exclusive Autosport team owner) since 2007.  During that time Clunie captured a GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) team Street Tuner Championship (in 2012 with i-MOTO Racing and teammate Pierre Klienubing in the #31 i-MOTO Racing MAZDASPEED 3) and numerous GRAND AM CTSCC ST Class podiums including first place at the prestigious Daytona International Raceway.

In addition to his time in sports cars, Clunie brings with him years of karting experience where he captured multiple championships and awards on a regional and national level.  He has also competed in a number of open-wheel events at the Jim Russell Championship Series (presently Sim Raceway) at Sonoma.  He finished 3rd in the Masters class in races 9 and 10 of the Jim Russell Championship Series and 4th overall at the IndyCar Sonoma Grand Prix Jim Russell Championship in 2009.

Clunie will be driving the #90 Sparco / Spectrum / Honda. Sparco is one of the world’s leading  providers of race equipment including helmets, fire suits, gloves and shoes.  Clunie will be sporting a custom Sparco fire suit as well as other Sparco race gear.

Clunie travelled with the Exclusive Autosport team to Road Atlanta for the opening round of the F1600 Formula F Championship.  He finished in the top ten in Race 2 (April 13) and captured third place on the podium in the masters category.

“I am very happy to be getting in the Exclusive Autosport Spectrum Honda cars. Moving from GRAND AM sports car racing to open wheel is a challenge that I look forward to. I have been an Exclusive Management Inc. driver since Michael started the management company.  I am really proud to be not only under his management umbrella but also driving with his team, Exclusive Autosport, this year.  I am really looking forward to adapting to the cars and keeping the Sparco / Spectrum / Honda at the sharp end of the grid, racing for podium finishes and going after multiple championships,” said Clunie.

“It is an honour having a driver in our program who can compete at not only the front of the masters class but also has the experience and race craft to compete at the front of the pro-championship class.  Jayson is that driver.  We have had the pleasure of working with Jayson for many years.  We have believed in him and his abilities behind the wheel since day one.  Although he is making the transition from sports car racing to open-wheel we know he will be challenging for podium finishes each weekend.  Jayson is a pleasure to have under the tent and represents our partners including Spectrum, Sparco and Honda in the highest regard,”  said team owner, Michael Duncalfe.

The season opens May 2-5 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park for the opening round of the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship.
