Marc-Antoine Cardin fait le saut en Formule 1600

AprĂšs une fin de saison Ă©courtĂ©e par un accident de karting Ă Mont-Tremblant en juillet 2011, le jeune pilote Sorelois, Marc-Antoine Cardin a dĂ©cidĂ© dâeffectuer un sĂ©rieux changement de cap Ă sa carriĂšre de pilote. Pour la saison prochaine, on pourra voir Marc-Antoine au volant dâune monoplace et il arborera les couleurs de lâĂ©quipe familiale qui se lance dans une nouvelle aventure. En effet, Cardin Motorsport inc. fera son  entrĂ©e dans cette sĂ©rie et prendra cette annĂ©e pour se familiariser avec tous les rouages de cette nouvelle catĂ©gorie.
Avec une sĂ©rieuse blessure au bras, Marc-Antoine a dĂ» rester inactif le reste de la saison 2011, manquant ainsi plusieurs courses. Il Ă©tait vraiment déçu de ne pouvoir participer au Championnat Canadien et par le fait mĂȘme, manquer les qualifications pour le championnat mondial qui se dĂ©roulait Ă DubaĂŻ en novembre dernier. AprĂšs plus de 8 ans de karting, Marc-Antoine avait atteint plusieurs de ses objectifs et le besoin dâun nouveau dĂ©fi se faisait sentir. Il a Ă son actif, plusieurs titres de Champion dans diffĂ©rentes catĂ©gories et le jeune pilote est satisfait des exploits accomplis.Â
La prochaine saison devrait dĂ©buter en avril si la tempĂ©rature le permet. Marc-Antoine devrait faire les premiers essais de sa nouvelle voiture Ă Sanair et espĂšre un maximum de pratiques avant le dĂ©but des courses. Il se doit de bien comprendre le comportement de la voiture afin de faire les bons rĂ©glages pour ce genre de voiture. A 15 ans, Marc-Antoine pilotera une Formule 1600, Van Diemen 1997. Câest une voiture de type monoplace avec un moteur Ford de 4 cylindres, 115 HP pouvant atteindre 240 km/h. Les pneus utilisĂ©s seront de marque Toyo avec rainures pour toutes les conditions mĂ©tĂ©o. Les courses de la sĂ©rie Formula Tour 1600 se dĂ©rouleront sur les circuits routiers du QuĂ©bec et de lâOntario. Les circuits Gilles Villeneuve, Trois-RiviĂšres et ICAR devraient ĂȘtre visitĂ©s par le jeune pilote. Par contre, tous les dĂ©tails des courses vous seront donnĂ©s sur le site de Marc-Antoine lorsque le calendrier sera dĂ©finitif.
 Marc-Antoine se mesurera Ă des pilotes expĂ©rimentĂ©s et il espĂšre bien en tirer profit. Il est bien Ă©vident quâil aura besoin de partenaires financiers pour performer dans cette grande aventure.  Toute lâĂ©quipe de Marc-Antoine tient Ă remercier tous ceux qui lâont aidĂ© de prĂšs ou de loin dans sa carriĂšre en Karting.
RĂ©trospective de son palmarĂšs.
Marc-Antoine a dĂ©jĂ une carriĂšre bien remplie. En 2005, il fut nommĂ© recrue de lâannĂ©e et Vice Champion dans la catĂ©gorie « Cadet ». En 2006, il sâapproprie le titre de Champion dans la catĂ©gorie Cadet. En 2007, il a terminĂ© Champion Ă la Coupe de MontrĂ©al et Vice Champion des Coupes du QuĂ©bec et VEGA. En 2008, on lui dĂ©cerne les titres de Vice Champion au Championnat Canadien et de la Coupe VEGA dans la catĂ©gorie Mini Max. En 2009, il est le Champion de la Coupe VEGA et le Vice Champion du QuĂ©bec en Mini Max. En 2010,  il termine la saison avec le titre de Vice Champion de la Coupe VEGA et il est gagnant du Ferrari Scholarship Program. En 2011, saison Ă©courtĂ©e par lâaccident en Rotax Junior, il termine quand mĂȘme 4e sur 33 pilotes Ă la Coupe du QuĂ©bec et 6e sur 47 au Championnat Rotax de lâEst du Canada.

Marc-Antoine Cardin takes the plunge in âFormula 1600â
Car racing
After a season that has been stopped by a kart racing accident in Mont-Tremblant in July 2011, the young racing driver from Sorel, Marc-Antoine Cardin, has decided to make a real shift in his career. For the next season, we will be able to watch Marc-Antoine driving a one-seater car where he will wear his family team colors and start a new adventure with his team. Indeed, Cardin Motorsport Inc. will be a newcomer in this division and will take this year to get familiar with all the inner workings of this new category.
Because of a serious arm injury, Marc-Antoine had to stay out of the competition for the rest of 2011 season, therefore missing many races. He was really disappointed for not being able to participate to the Canadian Championship and thereby miss the qualifications for the worldwide championship held in DubaĂŻ last November. After more than 8 years in kart racing, Marc-Antoine has reached many of his goals and need to take up new challenges. The young pilot has the Champion title in various categories and he is very satisfied of his career achievement.
The next season should start in April if the temperature allows it. Marc-Antoine should realize the first tests of his new car at Sanair and hopes to practice as much as possible before the beginning of the races. He must understand all the doings of his car so that he can execute the right adjustments for this kind of car. At 15 year old, Marc-Antoine will drive a Formula 1600, Van Diemen 1997. This is a oneâseater type of car with a 4 cynlindersâ Ford motor and 115 HP which can reach 240 km/h. He will use Toyo tires which are made of grooves for all kinds of temperature conditions. The races of the Formula Tour 1600 division will be held on the Quebec and Ontarioâs race circuits. The Gilles Villeneuve, Trois-RiviĂšres and ICARâs race circuits should be attended by the young driver. All the details of the races will be available on Marc-Antoineâs website when his season schedule will be definitive.
 Marc-Antoine will measure himself with experienced drivers and hopes to learn from it. Obviously, Marc-Antoine will need partnersâ financial support to be able to perform in this great adventure.

Marc-Antoine has already a well-filled career. In 2005, he has been named Recrute of the Year and Vice Champion in the Cadet category. In 2006, he obtained the title of Champion in Cadet Category. In 2007, he ended the season as Montreal Cup Champion and Quebec Cup and Vega Cupâs Vice Champion. In 2008, he has been awarded with the title of Vice Champion at the Canadian Championship and at VEGA Cup in the Mini Max category. In 2009, he was the Champion of VEGA Cup and the Quebec Vice Champion in Mini Max. In 2010, he finishes the season with the title of Vice Champion of VEGA Cup and is a winner of the Ferrari Scholarship Program. In 2011, the season has been cut short by an accident in Junior Rota and he finishes 4th amongst 33 drivers at the Quebec Cup and 6th amongst 47 drivers at the Rotax East of Canada Championship.Â
